From all the vitamins, vitamin D plays a crucial role in proper body metabolism. This vitamin helps a lot to retain the normal level of minerals like phosphorus and calcium in the blood. As this vitamin helps in the absorption of calcium, it makes the teeth and bones stronger. - Rickets: In this disease, the density of bone decreases immensely. The patient’s leg turn and he or she finds it difficult to walk and stand. The leg bones become so soft that they are not capable to hold the whole body weight.
- Hypoparathyroidism: The reduced levels of vitamin D in the body reduce the levels of calcium as well. This problem leads to a blood problem called as hypocalcemia. This problem further leads to hypoparathyroidism. In this problem, there is a decrease in the level of calcium in the body.
- Osteomalacia: This problem makes the bone very thin. This problem is common in adults. The bones become so fragile that they pain and break easily.
- Obesity: Decreased level of vitamin D affects the generation of a hormone called leptin. This is required for the fat regulation in the body. Low level of Vitamin D decreases the amount of this protein in the body as a result the weight increases.
- Fatigue: Due to less exposure to sunbeams, the energy levels in the body is affected a lot and the reason for this is the improper manufacturing of vitamin D. A person feels more fatigue and tiredness; also, people can have mild bone pain that persists for longer periods.
- Depression: According to some studies, vitamin D deficiency can lead to depression. Due to lack of vitamin D in the body, a person can experience frequent mood swings.
- Some other diseases: Apart from the symptoms, many people can have serious health complications like autism, heart diseases, cancer, diabetes, autoimmune diseases, hypertension etc
Vitamin D deficiency symptoms in adults show that they are more prone to severe diseases. To cure such problems, a person can have a balanced diet along with sunlight. Many other treatment options like oral pills and vitamin D injects are also present to treat the disease at once. A daily exposure to sunlight and healthy food makes the person free from the diseases that happen due to lack of this vitamin.
